PORCELAIN HISTORY

Schwarzenbach‘s oldest Porcelain Factory Oscar Schaller & Co, founded in 1882, was taken over in 1917 by the Winterling brothers, who expanded the business as Oscar Schaller & Co Successors. The Schwarzenbach strawflower pattern, representing a cost-saving variant for the onion pattern decorations from Meißen and Hutschenreuther, was very popular.

Porcelain Factory J. Kronester & Co was founded in 1906 as a family business and after World War II concentrated on the production of porcelain for daily use. The factory made a hit with shape Ulrike created by Hans Achtziger. Due to the industry’s crises in the 1990s, the company merged in 1993 with Schirnding AG and Johann Seltmann GmbH (Vohenstrauß) to become SKV Porcelain Union GmbH, which after takeover of the Arzberg brand in 2003 traded under the name Arzberg GmbH. Since 2013 this brand is incorporated in the Sambonet Paderno Industrie S.p.A.
