Introduction of the association Porcelain Route e.V.

The Porcelain Route crosses the whole of North-East Bavaria (over 500 kilometres). Approximately 80% of German porcelain is produced between Tettau (Frankenwald), the northernmost point, and Vohenstauß (Oberfälzer Wald), the southernmost.

The association and its purpose

The fascination of „White Gold“ is unbroken
The responsible persons from industry and tourism in North-East Bavaria thought, that this would be an excellent starting point to inform the people about the origin, the history and the manufacturing of the domestic porcelain. 

Establishment
The association was established in March 1996 and its task is to direct the attention of the locals as well as of the tourists to the product china in all it’s variety and to the attractive landscape where the factories are situated. 

Members of the association
The members are companies which produce china, firms which offer gastronomy and accommodation, towns and municipalities, companies which have a relation to china in general as well as individuals.

The association Porcelain Route is based in the Porcelain Town Selb (District Selb-Plößberg). The office is situated in the museum complex Porzellanikon in Selb. If you have any questions concerning the holiday area of the Porcelain Route please do not hesitate to contact us.
